Apple Intelligence Setup
Setting up free, on-device AI Polish with Apple Intelligence.
Apple Intelligence is Apple’s built-in system for processing language on your Mac. EnviousWispr can use it to tidy up your dictation by removing filler words and fixing punctuation. It is free, needs no API key, and keeps your text on your Mac. A fresh install starts with it selected, but it only works on macOS 26 or later.
What do I need for Apple Intelligence polish?
- macOS version. You need macOS 26 or later.
- Hardware. You need a Mac that supports Apple Intelligence.
- Model availability. The on-device model must be available.
How do I turn on Apple Intelligence polish?
- Check availability in macOS. On macOS 26, open System Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri and switch it on. On macOS 27 or later, use the status on EnviousWispr’s AI Polish page. If macOS reports that Apple Intelligence was not enabled, the cause may be unknown and System Settings may not offer a fix. You can keep dictating or choose another model.
- Open AI Polish. In EnviousWispr, open Settings > AI Polish.
- Select Apple Intelligence. Choose Apple Intelligence under On this Mac.
You know it worked when your next dictation comes back with the filler words removed and the punctuation corrected.
What if Apple Intelligence is not available?
EnviousWispr shows what macOS reported at the last check on the AI Polish page. For some statuses, Apple does not say the underlying cause. Read Apple Intelligence Not Available.
Which on-device option should I use on an older Mac?
If your Mac cannot run macOS 26, pick EG-1 or S1-mini under On this Mac. Both polish on your Mac without Apple Intelligence, and neither needs a key. EG-1 is our own model and is marked Recommended. S1-mini by Superwhisper is smaller.
