Set Up EnviousWispr on Android
Install EnviousWispr from Google Play, download the two models, allow the microphone and Accessibility, and try your first dictation.
EnviousWispr for Android is a free dictation app for your phone. You tap a floating bubble beside the keyboard, speak, and finished text lands in the app you were typing in. Speech recognition runs on your phone, and your voice never leaves it. Setup takes a few minutes, most of it spent downloading the two on-device models.
Install the app
Get it from Google Play. Search for EnviousWispr on Google Play, or open EnviousWispr for Android and tap Get it on Google Play. The app needs Android 13 or newer on a 64-bit phone with at least 6 GB of memory. See Which Android Phones Are Supported.
Walk through setup
Setup runs in a fixed order. The downloads and the microphone and Accessibility permissions come first, because dictation needs them; you can skip the demo and the practice.
- Welcome. Tap Get Started!
- Download the models. EnviousWispr downloads its speech model (Parakeet Ultra, 667.8 MB) and then its AI polish model (S1-mini, 484.2 MB). Downloads wait for Wi-Fi unless you tap Use mobile data. Setup continues when both show Ready. See Model Downloads and Updates on Android.
- Allow the microphone. On the permissions screen, tap Grant beside Microphone so EnviousWispr can hear your voice.
- Allow Accessibility. Tap Grant beside Accessibility. EnviousWispr explains what it uses this for and asks you to Agree, then shows a short guide to switching it on in Android Settings. See Accessibility Access on Android.
- Notifications (optional). Tap Grant beside Notifications if you want recording controls in your notification panel. You can turn them on later.
- Watch the demo. A short animation shows how to tap the bubble and how to hold it. Tap Skip to practice if you already know.
- Practice. Tap the bubble beside the practice box and say the sample sentence, then try press and hold. Tap Finish setup when you are done, or Skip practice.
How you know it worked
The practice screen shows Nice, that worked! when your words land in the box. After setup, the bubble appears whenever a text box is active in another app, just above the keyboard. See Start a Dictation on Android.
